Faith & Technology
In 2026, Pope Leo XIV wrote the encyclical Magnifica Humanitas ("Magnificent Humanity") to the whole world: children, youth, and adults. An encyclical is a letter by the pope sharing Church teaching.
It’s about what it means to be human and it asks what kind of world we want to build together. In it, Pope Leo says:
- New technology—including AI, robots, and "smart" weapons—can be used to hurt instead of help people.
- We shouldn’t be afraid of machines. They can help us in many good ways. But the Holy Spirit challenges us to be careful and wise about how we use these tools.
- We all have a big choice about how to build our future together. One option is God’s way, and another ignores God and what’s best for all.
